An Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) can diagnose, prescribe and manage patient conditions in a way similar to GPs. Helen is able to do home visits. She is a highly skilled nurse with advanced skills to;

  • Take a full medical history, carry out physical assessments and examination.
  • Make a diagnosis and carry out treatment, including the prescribing of medicines.
  • Plan follow up treatment.
  • Refer patients, where appropriate.

Our Practice Nurses work with the Doctors undertaking investigations and treatments and are trained in health education, well woman, disease prevention, management of chronic illness such as Asthma and Diabetes.

Healthcare Assistants

Mrs Caroline Murray (f)

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood) and blood pressure measurement. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
